Not only did I get a wonderful tour of Inglewood while doing the photo shoot but I also got to chat a bit with him over coffee. It’s great to see
someone so committed to the cultural growth of their city and their community.

Andrea Petrity Quintet

In these series, I wanted to give shape and form to the music I was listening to while shooting Andrea playing with her group at Beat Niq.
Inspired by the softness of the singer’s voice and the musicians’ passion when playing their instruments, the processing I used emulates
the nostalgia of old times in an underground community.

Andrea Petrity learned to play piano at age 8. She began with classical lessons and recived her grade 8 certificate with honours through
the Toronto Royal Conservatory of Music. She later went on to study music at Mount Royal College where she received a diploma in Jazz and
Contemporary Music Performance.

Throughout her studies in college and after Andrea has taken advantage of a variety of performing opportunites including ballet accompanist
for former National Ballet of Canada principal dancer Clinton Rothwell, pianist in showbands on cruiseships for 5 1/2 years, working with theatres,
casinos, big bands, Calgary and Montana Jazz Festivals, studio recordings and arranging projects.

Andrea’s love for many styles of music allows her to be versatile with her performances, from working as a solo pianist, piano / vocal duo to larger
ensembles and including a repertoire of jazz standards, blues, popular as well as original compositions and arrangements.

Andrea continues to pursue growth and enrichment in her musical career and can be heard performing in the Calgary area.
